Rodale's Veteran Farmer Training Program Accepting Applications

This is a program that is available for military veterans; retired, active duty, guard or reserve. Our goal for the VFTP, is for veterans to be able to use it as a stepping stone into the field of organic agriculture. It is a highly personalized, flexible, 2-4 month training program, where veterans are able to explore different aspects of organic farming while receiving a housing allowance and living stipend. Training is held at the Rodale farm from April-September, Monday-Friday, 8-5 in rain or shine. The areas of training are in: Animal Husbandry, Vegetable Production, Apiary, Greenhouse, Research, Orchard Maintenance, Machinery & Implements and Composting. After veterans complete their 2 or 4 months at Rodale they gain access to funds which enable them start an incubator farm at one of two local farms.
