MOSA's Transitional Production Plan Verification Program
If you are considering organic certification, and are planning to start the transition of your land and management, you may want to take advantage of MOSA’s Transitional Production Plan (TPP) verification program. The TPP helps producers with the development of an organic management plan for the transitional period and prepares them for organic certification.
Currently, the TPP is offered as a part of the USDA's Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP) at no cost to producers! By working with MOSA, a USDA accredited certifier, and by completing the TPP forms, and an annual desk audit, you will ensure that you have a strong and compliant organic system plan in place well before you need to apply for organic certification. Your preparation and experience will make the certification application process considerably easier to navigate.
MOSA will help you avoid common mistakes, will verify compliance, will approve allowed inputs, and help you towards your organic farming goals.
Once you complete the TPP application, MOSA will review your records and paperwork to verify that your inputs, seeds, and management are compliant with the National Organic Standards. Once verified, producers with a compliant TPP will be issued a transitional certificate, for internal viewing only, in the Organic Integrity Database (INTEGRITY), operated by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service National Organic Program (NOP). A completed TPP, signed by a USDA accredited certification body (certifier), can be used as organic system plan documentation in consideration for transitional crop insurance (Organic Crops | RMA (usda.gov)) and may meet part of the application requirements for Conservation Activity Plan 138 under the Natural Resource Conservation Services’ Environmental Quality Incentives Program’s Organic Initiative (CAP 138).
