This summer, with the help of The Good Acre, Blia and Phua Thao put up a high tunnel on their certified organic vegetable farm. After a farm tour led by Blia and Phua Thao, where they talk about how they manage their farm (they are organically certified), what they grow and the story behind their farm, learn about the design they chose, the building process, and their fall crop selection. They will discuss irrigation, trellising, planting times, soil fertility, and pest management.

If you’re interested in putting up a high tunnel and don’t know where to start, this field day is for you. Farmers, farmer resource providers, and ag technical assistance providers will benefit from this high tunnel demonstration day.

This field day will be presented primarily in Hmong, with simultaneous interpretation into English. Non-English and non-Hmong speakers are encouraged to request interpretation on their registration form.

David, from The Good Acre, will talk about the selection and construction process and pass along any tips and lessons learned. Blia and Phua will share how they plan on using the high tunnel and things they have learned so far, including what they have growing  for a late season crop.
