Organic Cost Share is Back

GOOD NEWS 

The Organic Certification Cost Share Program (OCCSP) is back 

 

After months of political delays, OCCSP is back, and FSA offices are accepting applications. Funded by the Farm Bill, OCCSP helps to defray organic certification costs by offering a rebate to certified organic operations of 75% up to $750.00 per certification category (crop, livestock, wild crop, processing/handling). 

 

This year's program will offer rebates for two years' of fees payments:  10/1/2024 - 9/30/2025 (Program Year 2025) and 10/1/2025 - 9/30/2026 (Program Year 2026). A crop operation that paid $1,000.00 in certification fees in each Program Year will receive a rebate of $750.00 for each of those years - $1,500.00 total. 


Application deadline:  December 31, 2026. Contact your county Farm Service Agency FSA County Locator, check the USDA/FSA Cost Share website, or contact MOSA (844-637-2526 - mosa@mosaorganic.org) for information on how to apply. You can print your paid invoices from MyMOSA, our client portal, or request your paid invoices from MOSA. FSA will verify your operation's organic status on the Organic Integrity Data Base. There isn't much paperwork, but there is a deadline. USDA/FSA says first-come, first-serve.

 

 If you prefer to apply with your state, Minnesota and Wisconsin will offer cost share. We don't know when these programs will open. Other states that have offered Cost Share in the past include California, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Missouri, South Dakota, North Dakota, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. To find out if or when your state will offer cost share, contact your state department of agriculture or check the USDA/FSA Cost Share website. State programs typically open later and application deadlines vary.
